Formby Beach and Nature Reserve

We have visited Formby Beach for years – it’s our go-to beach. But now that we’ve realised it’s part of the National Trust – meaning we get free parking – we will definitely visit a lot more.

If you are a member, you can park for free (as mentioned above), but if you aren’t a member it will cost you £7.50 to park. There are two car parks to go to, either Lifeboat Road or Victoria Road (we parked at the latter).

Formby is great for a good coastal walk, albeit windy, it is vast and go on for miles. Well behaved dogs are also welcomed onto the beach, and I think the beach is the perfect place to walk a dog, especially ours, she absolutely loves it. With the beach being so vast, you can easily change your walk up, from walking along the coast right at the water, walking among the dunes if you are wanting something a bit more strenuous, or just walking in between both, along the sand. It’s a great walking beach.

If you fancy some wildlife, the Squirrel Walk is a different way to go. You can go and try to spot the red squirrels! FYI, dogs must be kept on the lead here.

You can find toilets on Victoria Road, opposite the National Trust information boards and at Lifeboat Road at car park bay 1.
